SURFING INSTRUCTORS
Andrea Arriaga
Andrea was raised in Ventura, California, and grew up in the water and on the sands of the beautiful California coastline. Surfing and yoga have always been, for Andrea, complimentary activities, not only on a daily basis but also a way of life. Following her passions for the ocean, health, and all things that flow, she has surfed, traveled, taught and studied internationally. In addition to teaching yoga and Pilates, and practicing Thai massage, Andrea has taught surfing and has worked for Via Yoga as a teacher and retreat host for years. She now makes her home on the shores of Hawaii and Mexico and loves to surf, practice, teach, and learn, sharing the aloha with all.
Israel Preciado
Israel is Via Yoga's senior surf instructor. He grew up surfing the many point breaks in and around Sayulita. Currently he works at the Four Seasons Resort as a surf instructor, gives guided tours throughout Mexico's extensive coastline and also gives private surf lessons. Izzy is a master at getting people to stand up for their first time on the board and feel confident in the surf.
He used to compete with the Nayarit Surf Team and participated in the World Longboard Championships in Baja, Mexico. When Izzy is not surfing or teaching surfing he sells real estate in and around Sayulita.
Murilo Evangelista dos Santos
Murilo grew up skateboarding in the streets of Sao Paulo, Brasil. For the last 7 years he has lived on and off on the beautiful, jungle coastline between Rio and Sao Paulo. Surfing has changed his life, giving him opportunities that he had never even dreamed of. He has taught the last few years at a surf school for young developing surfers and tourists in Ubatuba, Brasil. Like Kate he loves to share the surfing stoke with others.
Kate Slater
My family has lived and worked down here in Sayulita for almost 7 years now and I have been vacationing and living down here on and off since I was a little girl. I learned to surf when I was about nine living in Encinitas, CA and since then I have mostly dedicated my life to travel and surf. I have lived and studied in Costa Rica, Brasil, Chile, Mexico and Argentina. I have a degree in International business and Spanish and hope to continue working in Latin America. I love to surf and love to share the experience with others.
Caroline Murray
Caroline is from Santa Barbara, and she learned to surf while getting her degree in anthropology at UCSB. This year, she began to surf competitively, taking part in competitions in the U.S. and Australia. She spent part of this year traveling - and surfing - in Western Australia and Indonesia. Caroline is passionate about the sport of surfing and the energy that comes from it. She loves to encourage others to feel the rush of working with the waves and says “sharing the stoke” never gets old!

Chilo is part of a Sayulita family with a long local history. He teaches surfing privately and also works at Punta De Mita Expeditions taking people diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing and spear fishing. He started sufing at the age of 10 and hasn't been able to stay out of the water for more than 24 hours since.
