Feb 20 - 26 Yoga, Pilates and Surf in Costa Rica

We’re excited to return Costa Rica with Alisa Wyatt and Andrea Arriaga (pictured above) for our Yoga, Pilates and Surfing retreat held at the Shana hotel, an amazing modern oasis in unforgettable Manuel Antonio. Days will begin with an optional morning meditation, followed by a vigorous Pilates class with one of our favorite Pilates instructors Alisa Wyatt, owner of Pilatesology.com. Guests will enjoy a hearty breakfast to prepare for an afternoon of surfing, stand up paddle board, Zip-lining, exploring Manuel Antonio’s National Park or pampering yourself with a relaxing massage followed by a good book poolside. The day wraps up with a yoga class combining traditional vinyasa with restorative yin yoga, lead by Via Yoga senior instructor Andrea Arriaga. At Via Yoga we don’t believe you need to choose yoga or Pilates, rather that they compliment each other providing a balance of strength and flexibility. Evenings can be spent as a group exploring the extraordinary local cuisine or individually for those who gravitate towards a quieter experience. Here, you can escape the hectic pace of everyday life, relax, hear yourself think, and soak up some well-deserved tropical sun! You’ll leave feeling relaxed and strong with a true understanding of the Costa Rican Pura Vida philosophy. (All yoga and surf levels welcome)

Your Via Yoga Vacation includes:

90-minute yoga class daily with Andrea Arriaga
90-minute Pilates class daily with Alisa Wyatt
Three surf or stand up paddle board lessons throughout the week (more can be added)
Six nights at Shana Hotel, a 27-room boutique resort with private white-sand beach
Daily breakfast

Zip-line tour through the Costa Rican jungle
A one hour relaxation or deep tissue massage

About Alisa Wyatt (Pilates Instructor)

Alisa has been teaching Pilates since 1999 when she left her high-powered publishing job to spread her passion for Pilates. A PMA Gold Certified Instructor, she’s a featured expert for Pilates Style Magazine and owner of pilatesology.com.

Alisa’s a Pilates purist who trained with Joseph Pilates’ protege, Romana Kryzanowska, and continues to study with one of the few remaining teachers who worked for Mr. Pilates: Jay Grimes. Her dynamic and easy to follow approach lends itself to yoga as well. Alisa’s vinyasa flow classes are a blend of focused breath, creative movement and great music.

When she’s not traveling the globe teaching and exploring with her photographer husband, Alisa lives in Hermosa Beach, CA, where she trains pro-athletes and civilians alike in her private studio. Visit her website at: www.alisawyatt.com.

About Andrea (Yoga Instructor)

Andrea is Via Yoga’s senior yoga instructor. Raised in a bicultural family, she is a citizen of both the United States and Mexico and has resided between Nayarit, Mexico and Hawaii since first arriving in Sayulita to work for Via Yoga, almost a decade ago. Her connections and knowledge to the local community and culture serve as an invaluable benefit and comfort to Via Yoga guests.

Although Andrea considers mother nature and personal relations her primary teachers, She feels blessed to have had the opportunity to study, and practice under numerous powerful masters including Shiva Rea, Saul David Raye, Matt Pesendian, Mark Whitwell, Bryan Kest, Robert Svoboda, and Dharma Mittra. Andrea has a strong background in Ayurveda, nutrition, eastern and western philosophy and concepts of health and medicine. Andrea is a certified and practicing Thai Yoga Massage Therapist, experienced Vipassana practitioner, a certified Stott Pilates instructor, and holds a professional degree in exercise science and fitness through UC San Diego.
